Sandeep Patil was one of the heroes for India in 1983. He has the experience of those wonderful moments of becoming a World Cup champion. He knows that it requires a lot of effort from everyone in the team to achieve wins in Crucial matches and that is what he wants the boys to do in 2019.
Sandeep Patil, former Indian cricketer and Member of 1983 World Cup winning team has advised the Indian team led by Virat Kohli to not depend on individual performances and to believe in the team effort to win the matches. His words hold great importance because we have seen in previous wins of India in World Cups of 1983 and 2011. That performances of all the members of the team have helped to lift the cup. We have seen, in recent times, that the Indian Team has heavily depended on 2-3 players like Virat, Rohit, Shikhar. In terms of batsmen or Bumrah mainly in Bowling department. This may work in one or two matches in World Cup, But to continue a long journey in the tournament, all the 11 players playing on the spot need to recognize their role and responsibility.
Sandeep Patil has cited the example of Kenya Team which made it to the semifinals in 2003 edition of the tournament. He knows that team like Afghanistan can put any other team in trouble on its day. So no team can be taken too lightly in the tournament. According to him, no other team can be underestimated in this ICC World Cup 2019. He has given the example of Kenya team which made it to the semifinals in 2003 edition of the prestigious tournament. What he wants to say is that any team can beat any team on its day. Even Afghanistan can prove to be dangerous with Bat and Ball.
Sandeep Patil is confident that the men in blue will perform exceptionally well in this World Cup.
Let’s hope that Sandeep Sir´s wish come true and Virat and boys Make us proud as it happened in 1983 and 2011.
