CS Complete Eligibility Criteria Details – Foundation Executive & Professional Courses

STAGES INVOLVED IN COMPANY SECRETARY COURSE

Those students who have just passed their class XII (10+2) can pursue the Company Secretary course by clearing three rounds i.e,

  • Foundation Programme
  • Executive Programme
  • Professional Programme

Those candidates who have completed their Graduation can also opt for Company Secretaries course by clearing two rounds of the Company Secretaryship which are given below:

Overview About Programme: Foundation, Executive & Professional

Details about Foundation Programme:

  • Course Duration: 8 months.
  • Can be pursued by After Class 12th students of any stream – Science, Commerce & Arts (Excluding Fine Arts) course which is of eight months duration.

Details about Executive Programme:

  • Graduate from any stream except the stream of Fine Arts can apply for this programme.

Details about Professional Programme:

  • The Professional Programme can only be pursued by those candidates who have cleared round of Executive Programme of CS Course

COMPLETE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA ABOUT ICSI CS FOUNDATION

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is a legal body which has been formed under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980 (as per the Act number 56, 1980) to modify and govern the Company Secretary (CS) Profession at regular interval. The ICSI is headquartered in New Delhi. The ICSI has its four Regional Offices situated in NEW DELHI, CHENNAI, KOLKATA & MUMBAI. ICSI has also set up its 70 Chapters (including Dubai Chapter) in several cities.

CS Foundation Eligibility Criteria to get Admission

  • Those students who have completed their Senior Secondary Class or (10+2) examination from any Board/University Central or State-Level recognized by the Government of India can sit for the CS Foundation Programme.
  • There is no minimum Class XII percentage or marks criteria for admission in CS Foundation Programme.

Eligibility Criteria For Provisional Admission

Those students who have cleared Senior Secondary Class (10 + 2) examination from a University/School recognized by the Govt. of India can apply for provisional admission. However, there are certain terms and conditions regarding provisional admission. The condition is that the provisional admission will be valid for only 6 months from the date of admission of the student. In between these 6 months, students should turn up in front of the CS authority along with necessary documents and proof of having cleared the Class 12th for verification purpose.

Cancellation of CS Foundation Provisional Admission

If, in any case, the student is not able to submit the required proof within the given period of time i.e., 6 months, then he/she will not be allotted admission. He/She will also lose his/her right to demand tuition fee back and his/her CS foundation provisional application for admission will be canceled.

CS Exemption from CS Foundation Programme

  • If you have done graduation or post graduation in any stream except fine arts then there is no need for you to sit in the CS Foundation programme. You can get direct registration in the Executive Programme.
  • Those students who have cleared the Foundation Examination of the Institute of Cost Accounts of India can also straightaway apply for the Executive Programme of Company Secretaryship Course.

Note: Graduates and Post Graduates from Fine Arts background are not allowed to sit for CS Executive.

CS Eligibility Criteria for CS Executive Exam

A candidate will be allowed to sit for the Executive Programme examination, if —

  1. Candidate has completed the registration process with the CS authority minimum nine calendar months preceding the month in which the examination is to be conducted. To make it more clear, candidate must register himself as a student in the month of February in order to stand eligible to sit for both modules of the CS Executive Programme December examination of that particular year. Those students who have registered between the month of March and August during a year will be considered eligible to sit for both modules of the CS Executive Programme examination which is to be conducted in the month of June next year plus the candidate must have satisfactorily completed all the necessary coaching and computer training.

    A candidate, however, registered as a student minimum six calendar months before the examination month may be given permission to appear in one module of the Executive Programme examination. To put into simpler words, you must register yourself as a student in the month of May if you are willing will to appear in any one module of the December CS Executive Examination. You can register in or before the month of November in a year if you want to sit in any one module of Executive Programme examination which will be conducted in the month of June next following year;

  2. Candidate must have successfully completed a course of postal or oral tuition for the module(s) which he wants to attempt in the examination;
  3. Candidate must have satisfactorily undergone Student Induction Program (SIP).
  4. Candidate must have attended Computer Training Programme as mentioned by the authority. SIP Programme gets formulated by the Council from time to time and in the manner so specified or exempted therefrom; and
  5. Candidates must fill and send an examination form in the prescribed manner, in whichever mode they like, be it online or offline, along with the examination fee, i.e.,` 1,200/- per module, which is to be sent at the Institute on or before 25th March for the June Executive Exam and 25th September for December Executive Exam (with late fee of Rs.250 up to 15 days of expiry of the slated end date, i.e., 9th April/10th October respectively)

Qualifying Marks for CS Executive

For Both Modules

Candidate is said to have a passed in both Modules of the CS Executive Programme examination on the conditions given below —

(i) If attempted simultaneously and if an aspirant is able to secure at one sitting, a minimum of 40% marks in each of the papers in which he wants to sit for and 50% marks in aggregate of all the papers as a whole

OR

(ii) If an aspirant has cleared anyone Module of CS Executive Programme exam held under the previous syllabus, before the introduction of the Executive Programme examination under the updated syllabus as given in Annexure-II and secures at one sitting atleast 40% marks in each of the remaining papers which he has to appear and 50% marks in aggregate of all the remaining papers of the Executive Programme examination as a whole.

For One Module

A candidate will be said to have cleared one module of the Executive Programme examination if he manages to secure one sitting a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in aggregate of all remaining papers of that module. In order to complete the Executive Programme examination, a candidate must clear both the modules.

Given that a candidate who has attempted all the papers of enrolled module, and was able to score 60% or more marks in any paper(s) and a minimum of 25% marks in each of the remaining papers of the module, but, somehow or the other, was not able to clear that module, shall be exempted from those papers in which he/she has got 60% or more marks, in any following examination on sending an application form in this behalf on or before the last date meant for registering for the examination in which he/she wants to sit for;

Given further that if a candidate who has sat for all the papers of a module he/she had enrolled without getting any exemption and was unsuccessful in qualifying one paper of the module, but somehow managed to get a minimum of 60% of the total marks of the remaining papers of that module, will be entitled to have cleared that module if he/she re-attempts the leftover papers which he/she was not able to clear and gets atleast 50% marks in any later exams.

Explanation: For the objective of the above provisions, the marks scored by a student in the paper(s) in which he had attained exemption on the basis of having scored 60% or more marks shall not be taken into consideration for calculating his/her result of the remaining paper(s) of the module in any later exams.

Distinction

A candidate will only be considered to have qualified the Executive Programme examination with distinction if he/she acquires a minimum of 60% marks in each paper at one sitting and 70% or more marks in aggregate in both the modules, without getting exemption in any paper.

Qualifying Marks for CS Professional

For All Modules

A candidate shall be declared to have passed in all modules of Professional Programme examination —

(i) If attempted simultaneously and if an aspirant is able to secure at one sitting a minimum of 40% marks in each paper he has to sit for and 50% marks in aggregate of all the papers as a whole

 OR

(ii) If an aspirant has cleared anyone Module/Group of CS Professional/Final Programme exam held under the previous syllabus, before the introduction of the Professional Programme examination under the updated syllabus as given in Annexure-II and secures at one sitting atleast 40% marks in each of the remaining papers which he has to appear and 50% marks in aggregate of all the remaining papers of the Executive Programme examination as a whole.

For One Module
